Potassium Nitrate is commonly used in leading explosive part of gun powder. It has been used to make fireworks, grenades, smoke bombs etc. It is also used in solid rocket propellant.

For preserving foodstuffs. Also used in curing meat, production of brine and making corned beef.

As it helps in burning tobacco.

Industrial Reducing Agent

As readily reacts with dissolved oxygen, but usually added to large piping systems to prevent oxidative corrosion.

Other usage

Used in medicine likewise for diuretic, back pain and joint pain. Some companies used in tooth-paste as ingredient for sensitive teeth. Also used in kinescope high grade craft glassware, optic glass etc. More in metalworking as flux and in the preservation of hides.
